Through the Eyes of Others…

The United States is a citizen of the world. There are times when we can only see and perceive ourselves clearly is through the observations of others. Many would say that America is turning away from representative democracy towards the embrace of authoritarian fascism.

This is a simple poll. There are 4 options:

1) The reelection of Donald J Trump as President of the United States will have a positive and beneficial effect on stability in the world

2) The reelection of Donald J Trump as President of the United States will have a devastating and destructive impact on the world

3) I don’t know(IDK)

4) I don’t care(IDC)

Pretty simple. Pretty straight forward, right? But there is a catch. There is always a catch, isn’t there? Well, this poll is only for people who ARE NOT citizens of the United States. Again, sometimes the only way to see the truth is through the eyes of another.

Are there problems with this international poll? Too many to list: it’s not scientific, not random, excludes many, blah, blah, blah. And I am sure you’ll come up with many, many more that I haven’t even thought of yet.

Also, please feel free to add comments given the expansive 280 characters that Twitter provides. It should be enough. I have found that people who cannot distill their thoughts and ideas down to the constraints of 280 characters, couldn’t get their point across in 2800 full-sized words. This is the qualitative data portion of the poll.

This will be a rather long-winded poll. It will last 7 days. That is an eternity in Twitter time. I will publish and assess the results on a weekly basis until the election in November.

Why do this? Why am I interested in what the rest of the world thinks about our election? Sometimes we need a reality check from our neighbors. I have a sense of what this poll will tell us…if anyone participates. Then again, the only data I might get is crickets.
